My first article...

Hello everyone!

Today, I have published my first article. Check it out: http://www.codeproject.com/cs/system/floppystepper.asp. It's on controlling floppy drive stepper motors using our parallel port. Some guys were asking me to write an article on it. I hope you find it interesting.

Remember the LED flashing Morse code video I created? Kevin D. Wolf has actually decrypted it using a cool software he created which analyzed the on/off duration of the LED and translated them to English! I've gotta admit, it's awesome!

Hello,

If you want the source of my floppy drive camera panner, you can find it here: http://www.codeproject.com/useritems/floppystepper.asp

I think you'll have to be a member of CodeProject to download it.

Really interesting project!
I'm in case modding scene and I'm planning to use your hints for a future project, but only one question : is't possible to use your sw with a USB to LPT dongle?
And, excuse me, one more : it's possible to hook up and control two of this stepper with two dongle? I was planning to make a really little cutting plotter or something like that and your help will be appreciated!
tnx a lot!

Hi Rigor,

I think it is possible to use this software with an USB to LPT dongle. I've never tried it though. Check out this page: http://www.keil.com/support/docs/2866.htm.

Answering your second question..there is no need to buy two dongles for controlling two stepper motors. Two stepper motors can be controlled though a single LPT port. Although I've never tried doing this, think it shouldn't be difficult.

Hope that helps,
Ashish

Hello ashish,
I saw your project Camera Panning Using Parallel Port Controlled Floppy Drive which good.I inspire by that project.I control stepper motor which operating volt is 12, through PC programming in turbo C.Now i want to control small stepper motor through this programming. Now i take small stepper motor from floppy drive. I remove this stepper motor from floppy drive & try to rotate that motor but it is not rotate.I considered oprating volt of this small motor is 5 volt.So please me the guidence for that.

Thanks.
